Erkan Dolunay was born in Karadeniz Ereğli in Turkey. He began playing bağlama at the age of 9. He played bağlama in various shows of the associations in Ereğli. He atttended The Music School of Arif Sağ who was one the masters of Turkish Folk Music and graduated from this school in 2008 as a bağlama teacher.
He used to play for 5 years during the concerts of Candan Erçetin and Mehmet Erdem – ones of the best of Turkish musicians and during the festivals with Moğollar group performing ethic music. In 2014 he was performing with Erdemir Folk Music Association in Târgoviște, Romania during „Zilele Cetății” festival.
He had his performances in many cities in Turkey: Samsun, Izmir, Ankara, Izmit, Bursa, Zonguldak, Antalya, Çanakkale, Tekirdağ, Istanbul, Bodrum, Sivas, Diyarbakır, Gaziantep, Antakya and in Nicosia and Girne in Cyprus.
Now he is teaching bağlama in Black Sea Education Centre and also performing it and singing in different cities in Turkey. He is active member of Cem Culture and Art Association and Erdemir Folk Music Association. Music is his lifestyle and irreplacable passion.
